One thing that sets Jesus Christ apart from all the rest, is for centuries, in fact for over a millennium, prophets had been making predictions about His birth, His life, His death, His resurrection, and His eternal reign as the King of Kings.

Messianic Prophecies Fulfilled by Jesus Christ

No one predicted anything whatsoever about Buddha, Mohammed, or Confucius! What people believe about these men today is based upon the teachings and claims that they made while they were alive, or upon the claims of those made after these men died by their followers through out history.
However in the case of Jesus Christ, we knew centuries before He lived where He would be born, where He would grow up, and where He would die. We knew the type of person He would be, the type of friends that He would have, and what His message to the world ultimately would be about. Imagine that I made a hypothetical prediction about a man that would be born in the year 2637 AD. That he would be born in Europe, in the city of London, that he would grow up in Asia, and once her grew up he would live in the United States. It is entirely possible that in that year someone would be born in London, grow up in Asia, and later in life live in the United States.
However further imagine with me that 40 other men and women made even more detailed predictions about this person centuries before that person was even born.

Luke 24:26-27
26  Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
27  And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

Messianic Prophecies Fulfilled by Jesus Christ

The amazing thing about the prophecies concerning Christ, is that no one during Christ’s life seemed to understand that Jesus was in the process of fulfilling them, not until after He died, and was resurrected with very few exceptions.

It was through understanding these prophecies after the fact that helped solidify the faith of millions.

43  To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;  Titus 1:2

It was faith in these prophecies, and their belief that Jesus Christ fulfilled them that inspired the apostles to go to the far reaches of the world to tell people about Him. These prophecies gave millions hope and faith as they faced persecution and martyrdom.

Please do not miss this. It wasn’t merely some doctrine, or mode of theology that preserved these men and women’s faith. It was these prophecies.

By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.  Romans 5:2

When we look at the book of Acts, and the writings of the Apostles, their stories all have one thing in common as a driving force. It was as though they were on a roof top crying out, “listen people, the prophets all said these things would happen in great detail, now look at the life of Christ and see for yourself how he fulfilled their prophecies in every detail.”
